Okay Football Mommies, welcome back to Football 101 where we spend some time learning the basics about football.   This will be an ongoing series from “Football and Mom Stuff” where we bring you quick tutorials on a wide range of football topics.

Overview of Divisions and Teams

As we talked about in the History of Football, the current NFL is made up of 32 teams divided into two conferences. The two conferences are the NFC (National Football Conference) and the AFC (American Football Conference). Each conference includes 16 teams and is split into four divisions – East, North, South and West. Each division has four teams. So let’s break down each division.

AFC Divisions

Here is a quick reference breakdown of the AFC divisions and teams:
